To play along answer the following three (3) questions :-

1. What are you currently reading?

2. What did you recently finish reading?

3. What do you think you’ll read next?

Here are my answers :-

1. What are you currently reading?

I am currently only on Pg 114 of this book and I will admit it is taking me a while to read, because I tend to highlight loads of things as I am going through it.  I will end up reading it again, because I think you always pick up more second time round.  I am enjoying it and it is really making me think about my own resolutions for the year ahead.   Well worth reading!

2. What did you recently finish reading?

Wow, wow, wow!  I LOVED THIS BOOK!  I have been struggling for a while to find an inspirational book to read, and well I just think I found it!  This book is amazing.  It is the story of a lawyer in America, who’s life is not going the way he wanted and actually it is pretty awful and he decides that he needs to write 365 Thank You notes in a year.  This is his story and boy what a story!  This book gives a great insight into how to be grateful even for the smallest of things!  Such an enjoyable read, please read it!

3. What do you think you’ll read next?

I have read this book already, but I want to read it again so I can start setting up my own Control Journal.  I did enjoy reading this the first time round, but I think I going to get more out of it second time round!

I am also planning on reading her other book :-

I have heard some good reviews about this book, but so I thought, seeing as I enjoyed her other book (see above) I wanted to see what I could take from this one!  Watch this space!

  2. What did you recently finish reading?
  3. What do you think you’ll read next?

My answers :

1.  What are you currently reading?

The Saturday Big Tent Wedding Party  The 12th book in the series and I have enjoyed each and every one of the previous 11 so I can’t wait to get stuck into this one!  I have only just started it, so too soon to pass any judgement on it!

2.  What did you recently finish reading?

Hello Mum (Quick Reads) This was a quick read given to me by the local library, and at first I did not like the sound of it, however once I started, I found it hard to put down.   Thoroughly enjoyed it, it is the story of a black teenage boy who is killed and he writes a letter to his Mum, telling her about his life, the part which she never knew about.  Very enjoyable!

3.  What do you think you’ll read next?

The Happiness Project  I have heard so many good things about this book that I definitely want to read this next and find out for myself what all the hype is about!

My answers :

I read The Friday Night Knitting Group a few years ago and it took me about 5 attempts to get into it, but once I did I really enjoyed it!  It seems book two is going to be the same!  I am sort of enjoying it, but because I had quite a long break between the two it is hard to remember what happened in the first one!  I am getting through it slowly and when I do get into it, I enjoy it, but when I put it down I then find it hard to get back into it.  I will continue though, as I remember how good the first book turned out!

2.  What did you recently finish reading?

This was a very interesting book to give me some ideas on Vegetarianism.  Well worth reading if considering changing!

3.  What do you think you’ll read next?

Honestly, I don’t know!  I need to get through my current book first, but I do have quite a list to get through!

  2. What did you recently finish reading?
  3. What do you think you’ll read next?

My answers :

1.  What are you currently reading?

"Vegetarian Times" Vegetarian Beginner's Guide I have just started this book and whilst I am not finding it a light read, it wouldn’t be would it, I am actually enjoying it and finding it very interesting.  I am going a bit slower with this book, I guess because I am marking information that I want to come back to when I have finished it.

It is really interesting to read about vegetarianism and I am looking forward to embarking on that journey in the near future!

2.  What did you recently finish reading?

Confessions of a Bad Mother: In the aisle by the chill cabinet no-one can hear you scream I loved this book!  It was so easy to read and get back into when put down after a break!  It was light hearted, funny, honest and bang on the money!

I would recommend this to anyone who has children or is thinking of having kids and realise that most mothers, even those that make it look easy, are struggling and it is fine to do so, some days you will feel like a bad mother but the chances are you are doing great!

3.  What do you think you’ll read next?

The Kind Diet: A Simple Guide to Feeling Great, Losing Weight, and Saving the Planet I am hoping that this book arrives today from Amazon, as this is meant to have a very good step by step plan in it to becoming vegetarian.  So I am looking forward to reading it and seeing what they recommend to do!

Craft-o-Fax Update! (at last!)

Standard

Some of you will remember my beloved Craft-o-Fax that I set up last year?

Here it is in all it’s glory, bursting at the seams!  Yes my lovely Red Domino A5 is packed to capacity and more!

So I thought that 2011 I needed to be better organised and after bidding on another A5 on Ebay I won an A5 Black Identity!

It really is rather uninspiring but actually I still really like it!  I set about setting it up straight away, and this what it is looking like now :-

The inside front cover!

List of 2011 Crafting Goals!

Section 1 – contains all my knitting patterns of projects I want to complete this year.  I have a today marker placed on the pattern I am currently working on and mark the pattern where necessary as I go!

Section 2 – is for my crochet projects!

Section 3 – has pictures of all my cross stitch projects that I am doing in 2011!

Section 4 – has a list of all the books I want to read, not necessarily in 2011 but I am hoping to make quite a dent to it this year!

Section 5 – houses my sewing projects that I want to make, not a lot in here to be honest, only about 3 but that is enough!

Section 6 – has a copy of 101 things to di n 1001 days list, as well as patterns I have completed I take out of the relevant section and house here.  There is also a pad of paper, some empty to do lists and quadrille paper in this section!

Finally at the back I keep a knitting book called ‘Finishing Techniques for Hand Knitters’ just in case I need to check how to do something, at least I have the reference on hand rather than  having to go search for it!

So that is my Craft-o-Fax no 2!

Hope you like it, or at least the sound of it! LOL!

  3. What do you think you’ll read next?

My answers :

1. What are you currently reading?

I am currently reading this for the second time.  I just love this book!  It is such an easy read, and one I can totally relate to and enjoy!  Well worth a go for anyone out there that has ever tried to diet, or has dieted and been successful or unsuccessful, or like me just likes to read others diet journeys!

2. What did you recently finish reading?

Well besides magazines, at the moment I am a one book at a time lady!  However I did try and read  and totally hated it.  So this will be my recently finish reading, as I tried and couldn’t so finished it in the sense I gave up!

3. What do you think you’ll read next?

Being from Zimbabwe, I can’t wait to get stuck into this book!  It has some really good reviews and will definitely be my next read!

Feb 1st already!

Standard

Wow, can you believe we are already at the start of Feb!?!?!?

This post is not going to have any pictures, as I have not downloaded any still, and I needed to write rather post piccies!  So my update :-

Well as I am typing this it is blowing blizzards outside, and the snow has arrived in Suffolk!  Great, not looking forward to another week of having to go out in this weather!

Luke update – Luke seems to be doing well at the moment.  He has cut his first tooth and that caused a few bad nights, but he is good now.  I have finally taken the plunge and started cooking him food!  I know it sounds mad, but I just never felt comfortable cooking food and always thought the jars gave him everything.  But after trying it and realising it is just so easy and he loves it, there is now no stopping me!  He is getting loads of different blends and seems to love it all!  He starts another morning at nursery from Feb 18th, which will be great.  Means I get 3 full mornings to focus on work, 1 day to do his activities, 1 day to do my activities and afternoons to dabble in work if I am needed!  So looking forward to the new routine/schedule!

Craft update – I have been trying to teach myself crochet.  I need to crack it this year, as it is just nuts that I can’t do it!  So far, I seem to have mastered Double Crochet (UK) which is great.  Once I get the end of my test ball of yarn and start a new colour I will start a new stitch!  I have not really done much work on the afghan.   With Luke now crawling it is not the most practical peice to be working on when I need to get up and down all the time!  So I have been working on some smaller projects, which seem easier, quicker and going better!  Knitting, hmmmm, still there, not done any, really must get it sorted and finish Luke’s jumper!

Reading – I am almost finished the book I am currently reading, Flying Changes by Sara Gruen.  It is just fantastic and really enjoying it!

Facebook – if anyone reading this has me as a friend on Facebook, please come over and say hello.  I did go through and clear up my friends, and as awful as that sounds, I got so many who never even said hello, so I deleted them!  Now I am alot more cautious when accepting invites!

Weightloss – I am now 6lbs down from Jan 8th which is great.  Taking it slow and not being too hard on myself, but am well chuffed with that result so far!

Feb looks a busy month for me, which is just great!

So I am going to continue doing some cross stitch now, while the little man takes his nap!

Till next time………………….

Last post of 2008!

Standard

I have to admit, I can’t quite believe that tomorrow is 2009!  Not sure where 2008 has gone, it seems to have flown by!  So what will my last post in 2008 cover?

Last night I spent about 4hrs compiling my list of 101 things to do in 1001 days.  I thought it would be easy but once having started and really thinking about it, it certainly was not!  I ended up leaving a few blank but I thought I could fill those in during the year as more things come to me!

Since my last post, I have not done too much!  We are currently looking for a new pushchair/stroller for Luke.  Who’d have thought it would be so hard!

Craft wise, I decided to cover a box that one of Luke’s Christmas presents came in, to use as a toy storage box!  I have to say a huge thank you to my friend Cheryl for her hints and advice on doing this, greatly appreciated!

p1020316 The box before I attacked it!

p1020318 The fabric I chose, it is a colourful safari theme, the picture does not do it justic!

p1020324 The final covered box!  I am rather chuffed with it, to be honest!  And again the picture is not great, as I took it this evening as I wanted to post it before the New Year!

So what else have I been doing?  I finally finished the preparation of the afghan fabric!  It does look rather untidy but I will be tidying it up after all squares are stitched! dec-28th-08-2  And I have finally started it, not alot done but it is start! dec-30th-08  dec-30th-08-1

I have done a little bit more on The Watering Hole, but not as much as I would of liked! dec-28th-08

Finally after 4 attempts I am enjoying reading The Friday Night Knitting Group book.  Yes it has taken 4 goes to get into it, but now I have it is great!

Well to all my Blog followers, friends and family I wish you a very Happy New Year and all the best for 2009!

A week of aims!

Standard

This week I decided each day I would write my aims for that day and see if I could achieve them!!!!!  Rather than one long list that never gets done and I feel a failure!

Well it seems to have worked!!!  This week (Sun – Sun) I have managed to :-

1. read more of my book!

2. stitched about 10 stitches on my cross stitch – not alot I know but a real achievment I feel!

3. cast on for a bolero and knitted 5 rows of 103sts – again does not sound alot but wayhay!

4. attended all my appointments on time!

5. drove to Peterborough for the day on my own with Luke!

6. played about 10mins of Brain Training!

7. replied to all emails

8. managed daily chores of getting bottles ready, dishwasher sorting, washing!  Thank goodness I have a cleaner so that is one less thing to worry about!

They all sounds so triveal, but with baby in tow I do feel this is a real achievement and step forward to getting my life back to some sort of normality!

Luke is now 6wks + 6days and weighing in at 12lbs 1oz as at last Monday!  He is doing really well and getting better with the mild reflux which is great.  I was warned that week 6 and 7 could be the hardest and he certainly has been more unsettled this week, but it has been ok!  We got our 6wk checkup cleared on Monday as well which is great.

So here is to another week!  This week I would like to do a bit more crafting, reading and getting out!  We are off to my Parents on Saturday for the day which will be nice!  Lets hope the weather remains good this week!
