Cath Kidston

I am a huge Cath Kidston fan!  I don’t own any of her products but I always admire from a far, that was of course until today, and these arrived in the post!

I am in my absolute element!  These bags were for sale before I even discovered CK and so missed out, but good old Ebay came to the rescue and now they are mine!

They are going to come in so handy as project bags, shopping bags, toy bags, day out bags, the list is endless!

So I will end here, as I feel I am all updated out!

Have a wonderful weekend and hopefully I will have some more updates on Monday!

Today, I got the urge to be a domestic goddess and actually bake some biscuits and a cake.

So first of all I made some flapjacks, that actually turned out rather scrummy, and oh so easy to do!

Now I could go through and post pictures of all the different steps and I did think of that but really you just want to see the finished product and so here it is!

Next was my chocolate cake, and I have to be honest here when I say I cheat and get the mixture out the box and just add the oil, water and eggs!  One day I will make one from scratch, I am just waiting for Mom to share that family recipe!  Here is my cake!

There I was thinking I had photographed it all iced and I hadn’t and now it has been cut into, so gonna have to settle with this picture instead!   Sorry!

I really enjoyed my backing session today and I am hoping to try and get a bit more baking done in the future!  So much nicer than shop bought!

Here are my granny squares when I tried to join them WITHOUT blocking!

As you can see the squares are all distorted, and just look plain awful!

Here they are blocking and already they are looking 100 times better!

I have now unpinned them and they are certainly looking so much better!  I now feel alot happier trying to join them all together and getting this blanket sorted!

Birthday Lunch!

Today my brother officially turns 40!  I can’t believe it, where have the years gone!  It brings it more into perspective when I realise he was 28 when we left Zimbabwe, that seems years ago, and I guess it is!

As we aren’t able to share his birthday with him this weekend, we went up last weekend and spent time with him and my parents!  I love family time, just so important to me!

Anyway we went to a wonderful old mill that had been converted to a restaurant, and for a change I actually photographed my meal!

This was Luke’s fish and chips with mushy peas!!!!  Rather posh for kiddies menu!  Pity he came down with a temperature and actually never got to eat any!

This was my starter, liver pate and melba toast!  Scrummy!

Roast Beef with all the trimmings!  Check the size of the yorkshire pud!

Finally the dessert, treacle pudding with an orange custard!  This had to have been THE best pudding I have had for ages!

So after taking pictures of the food, I actually forgot to take pictures of the setting! LOL!

It was beautiful!

Feb update!

I really need to think of more interesting post titles, mine seem awfully boring!  Hmmmmmm.

So I am not going to go into what Feb has been like, and instead I am going to post pictures and give descriptions!  So here goes, what happened in Feb!

I finished my Simple Yet Effective Shawl.  It was made from Trekking XXL and I did about 1.5 repeats of the pattern.  It currently measures 96cms wide unblocked!  Will hopefully be blocked this coming week!

My ripple blanket is coming on well.  I have not spent as much time as I had hoped on it, but still progress is going well.  I am hoping that you can see just how the colour sequence is going to be going?  It is going to large, but hopefully cuddly!  So still loving the ripple!

This was going to be a granny square blanket with different size squares, etc, however I realised that if I did that it will never get finished!  So instead I have decided to do something different and join the 2 large and 8 small, another set, similar to above still needs to be joint!  And then I am going to work rows, large squares, small squares and more rows and hopefully it makes a lovely blanket!  I realise it may all be sounding a bit strange, but all I can say is what this space!

I really must take a better picture, however here are the squares so far my Summer Blanket!  Again it is going to be a mix of big and small squares.  The yarn is Anchor Magicline and is a dream to crochet with.  I have 55balls to make up, so another LONG term project!

I took part in a Valentines Swap on the Phoenix Knitting Forum.  It was a wonderful little swap that did not take much time, but loads of fun!  Above is the picture of what I sent, and this is what I received

Cross stitch update.  This is not really coming on a quickly as I had wished, however I am still enjoying working on it when I get the chance!  It will take a while, but hey ho!
