Monthly Archives: August 2008

I managed to do some crafting………………..

am well chuffed, I have managed to do some cross stitch and knitting this weekend, and it is only Sunday!  Fair enough I have done nothing today, but I did manage some yesterday, which is just great.  So here is it :-

Sampler at the start of yesterday

After having been able to do a little bit!!!!  Better than nothing! LOL!

Branching Out – Sirdar Blur, just cast on, first 5 rows, still to start pattern!  Can only knit this during the day, as too hard to see at night!

Sweater for Luke, using James C Brett, Magi-knit baby yarn, it is impressive how the pattern works out.  Can’t wait to continue this and see how it develops!

Luke – 12wks

Here is my little boy, enjoying his Bumbo chair!!!!

We is now 12wks old and loving life!  He can now hold his head up alot more and so loves his chair!  It is great as it also helps with his posture!!!!

We started Baby Bounce this week down at the local library, it was only 20mins but he seemed to really enjoy it, which is the main thing!  I also started Pilates, and he loved that although he just gets to watch mommy!!!

Knitting update

Wow knitting seems to be going well at the moment.

Mobius Wrap – this is now finished and was made from Patons Inca, took 6 skeins on 7mm needles.  Knitted up quickly as straight garter stitch.  Just needs sewing up and I can then post a picture!

Sirdar Bolero – made from Stylecraft, I am now shaping the back for the armholes, so coming on nicely.  Hoping to crack on with it and get it done as have loads of other projects I want to do!

Luke update

Well Luke is now 11weeks old and growing at a wonderful rate!  He was 13lbs 12ozs at last weigh in 2 wks ago!  He is now into 3-6mth clothes and size 3 nappies, so he is doing well.  Actually he grew out of size 2 nappies so fast we never got to finish all the ones we had bought!

Milestones, he can almost roll over now.  He at least gets on his side and rocks there!  He is yet to hold his head up when you put him on his tummy but he certainly holds it up at all other times!

He now sleeps in his own room, and has taken to that transition really well.  We have put his pram cot inside his big cot at the moment, just to get him used to the room, and hopefully this week I can put him in his actual cot!  He also now gets bathed in the big bath, having outgrown his baby bath already!  Again he loves it, just splashes loads and giggles and smiles.  He really is a water baby and has no problem with it at all!

His first set of jabs went well, and he hardly flinched.  He made a bit of a noise but just fell back to sleep after giving me a huge grin!

Time certainly goes fast with a baby, and he grows so quickly, but I don’t see it with being with him every day, but everyone else keeps telling me!

We have about 7wks till he starts nursery, and that will be so good for him.  Just to be looked after by someone else and interact with other children.  Sept really kicks off all the baby groups, nursery, yoga etc and I am looking forward to it, although it may be a little tiring, it will be great!

Has it really been

almost 3 weeks since my last post!?!?!?!?!

Wow we are now into August already.  Where is 2008 going?  So what have I been upto since my last post………….

27th July, I went to an open day at Natural Dye Studio.  We had lovely weather in Suffolk that weekend and so we got to sit under the big willow tree and knit and talk.  My idea of heaven.  Luke was home with Daddy having some quality time!

28th July, Si took the day off work and we headed to Banham Zoo for a family day out.  It was lovely.  A bit hot but just great to be out as a family, showing Luke all the animals.   Although in fairness he did sleep most of the time he was there!

31st July, I decided to take Luke to Peterborough to spend the day with my family, as they had not seen him for a few weeks.  It was so nice to be up there with them.  I do miss not living so close to them anymore!  Came home and I went to knitting group in the evening, still working on my Mobius Wrap.

1st Aug and Si did his first Daddy Yoga with Luke and loved it!  They both seemed to enjoy it, and Si came home and promptly held my son by his ankles upside down to show me what they had been doing!  I am so proud of both of them, but especially Si, he really is settling into fatherhood well.  Although he may not be as organised or routined as me, he does a great job and Luke loves his daddy time!   So whilst Si was there I managed to :- take all papers to recycle bin, post back some clothes, go to Felixstowe to buy a pattern book, buy some groceries from Tesco, bake a cake and make a chicken dish for our picnic!  All within 2hrs, very proud of myself!  I then did some cross stitch in the afternoon.

2nd Aug and the local knitting group I attend decided to have a picnic in our local park, great idea!  Except as we were ready to leave the heavens started to open.  We managed to just get under a tree and it poured it down, so Si and I sat under the tree under an umbrella feeding Luke!  Once that was done we managed to make it to the bandstand and had a lovely afternoon!

I also mananged to finish my mobius wrap but will post pictures etc on another thread as still need to take some!

August for us is busy, but lovely!  We are off to see Romeo and Juliet in our local forest on Friday night.  My brother is coming down to stay and my in-laws are looking after Luke, so it should be great.  So Gavin is here for the weekend, so we need to find some other stuff to do, but that won’t be hard!

The rest of August we have something on each weekend, so will post as and when the events happen rather than telling you about it in advance!  I may even get to post some pictures!
