Look who missed Mommy’s birthday by 57mins!

We have our beautiful baby boy!

LUKE MICHAEL STAFFORD born 19th May ‘08 at 2303hrs weighing in at 9lbs 20zs, via emergency c-section after 25hrs of active labour!  Well worth every single minute!  Glad to be home now, although it was a short stay, went in Monday came out Wednesday!

I can’t believe he was so close to be born on my birthday, I am surprised he missed it, but relieved.

I will post the birth story at a later stage, but at the moment we are just great and settling in well to being a family.

I will just add I am in total awe of my husband and how well he coped at the birth, and since and the support he is giving me is unbelievable, he is simply wonderful!

39wks + 1day

So here I am 39wks and 1 day!  Wow!  6 days left till my due date.  I really am hoping it arrives on time, but you just never know!

The babies head is engaged and things are going well.  I have been on crutches for about 2 weeks now, due to pelvic and back pain, but a small price to pay to have a wonderful little buddle of joy!

So we are all ready for the arrival of baby.

It is my birthday in 6 days, yes due date!  So my family are coming down on Sunday to spend the day with me, so I am hoping that baby holds out till 21st or 22nd!

Can’t quite believe that the end is so near now.  It seems just like the other day we discovered we were pregnant!

So watch this space, will update as soon as anything happens!

37wks + 3days

Wow, in medical terms the baby is now classified as full term if it were to be born now!!!  I can’t believe we are just 18days away from DUE DATE!

I started a course of reflexology last night to help get things moving and it was just wonderful!  I am really taking a very holistic, natural approach to this birth and am trying everything possible to prevent me having medical intervention.  The reflexology is 4 sessions worth and she works on different parts of my feet, relating to my uterus etc.  It was just wonderful!

My midwife appointment went well this week.  The baby’s head is 4/5th’s engaged, so at least it is starting to move down!

I have now started my Raspberry leaf capsules, eating pineapple and about to start on the spicy food.  Probably all old wives tales I know, but no harm in trying them!  Oh and I have a wonderful 1hr back massage booked for next Friday, that I can’t wait for!

It is bank holiday weekend in the UK, this weekend, and can’t say I have loads planned, but I have a few things!  I must stitch more of the sampler that is for sure!  I am going to get pampered on Saturday and have booked in to have my hair trimmed, a manicure, pedicure and my eye brows shaped.  Just thought I could with it!

I am hoping the weather is nice, as it would be lovely to be able to sit in the garden, read and chill out!

Right I am off to physio now, as my pelvic pain has returned worse than ever, joint with sciatic (sp?) pain so I am hoping they can sort it out for me.  Would love a pain free weekend!

So have a wonderful bank holiday everyone, and I will try and post some more pictures of the sampler at some point!

35week update

Here I am at 35weeks in my pregnancy glory!  Wow, I am getting big!  5weeks left, provided Sixpence arrives on time!  Things are still going well, and Sixpence is still top of its charts for growth etc, but that is fine!

I am still working, although have reduced my hours slightly.  I find walking, bending and standing rather hard to do at the moment, but other than that it is great!

We have now come to the end of all our courses, having done Hypnobirthing, Breastfeeding and Parentcraft, oh and 2 ward tours!  So we are more than prepared!

I have still to pack my hospital bag, which I will do, but I keep delaying it, not sure why, I think it then signifies a closeness to possible hospital time! LOL!

Well I have my midwife checkup tomorrow, and from now on weekly I think!

So I am going to sign off here, as Sixpence is hiccuping and kicking and it is making sitting a bit uncomfortable! LOL!

Aldeburgh – Sunday 30th March ‘08

aldeburgh-300308-32wk-5days-1.jpg     aldeburgh-300308-32wk-5days.jpg  For some bizarre reason since I fell pregnant I have wanted to go to the seaside and sit on a wall and eat fish and chips!  Why, I hear you ask?  No idea, I just really wanted to!

So seeing as the weather was quite nice today, a bit windy but it was fine, Si decided to take me down to the seaside and it was great.  We arrived with 3mins to spare before the Fish and Chip shop closed, so I ran, rather lets say waddled in and got our lunch, whilst Si found a parking space.  We then walked to the pebble beach and sat on the wall and enjoyed our fish and chips!  It was just bliss!  I loved it!

When we had finished, we went for  slow walk down the pier and then into the town, and bought an ice-cream and sat on the wall again and finished it, before heading back to the car and driving home.

It was really nice, and so good to be out in the fresh air.  Can’t wait till Sixpence arrives and we can take it down to the seaside and walk along the pier.  I kept looking at all the families with their little babies and thinking that will be us in about 3 months!  How cool!

Pregnancy photoshoot

Hubbie and I went and had some pregnancy photos taken of us, when I was 31 weeks and these are the results : -

They turned out really well.  These are not shown too great, as I had to take them from the preview booklet but at least it gives you an idea!

So we are going to get a few, and have one for the babies nursery, so it has a nice picture of its mommy and daddy close by!

Talking about the nursery, I am also waiting for my pictures of the grandparents to come back from the framers.  We decided to have a frame made to hold 4 photos, i.e. both sets of grandparents, so we can put that in the nursery as well.  Can’t wait to see the end result, as they were pictures taken from our wedding and are really nice!

32 week update

Wow, who’d have thought, 32 weeks already, it is amazing. I can’t believe we have just 8 weeks left and Sixpence is here, provided it arrives on time!

Things are going well with the pregnancy. I am measuring big but not too worried about it to be honest! I am enjoying being pregnant, even if I am exhausted all the time, can’t bend and struggle to do every day things! It is just wonderful!

The nursery furniture has all arrived and is set up and looking good. I have finally washed all the linen and baby clothing, and am now slowly getting my hospital bag sorted! Never realised how much stuff I would need in hospital!

Pregnancy Update

February 3, 2008 shazzastitching 3 comments

Well I am now 24weeks and 5 days! So well over the half way mark! Just 16 weeks to go, if it arrives on time!

I am getting back to my normal self, although I am very tired and getting bigger each day!

But loving being pregnant. It is amazing to think that this little person is growing inside and getting everything it needs from me at the moment!

The baby seems rather active and kicks and moves loads, which is great, as it is a wonderful feeling! Luckily it seems to be in a routine and almost sleeps at the same times as me, which is good!

We are getting prepared and taking one day at a time. The nursery should be done by the end of March, and we start hypnobirthing classes at the end of this month!

I have attached the picture from our 4D scan yesterday! The cheeky monkey was hiding its face quite a bit and was very camera shy, like its mommy!

Where have I been?

December 3, 2007 shazzastitching 3 comments
I have to apologise for the recent neglect to my blog, but I have good reason!!! So where have I been………
here is a clue, we have a new family member joining us in May 2008? Yes I am pregnant and the last few months have been pretty tough to say the least! 8 tests later it finally sank in that I was pregnant!
I have had morning, night and sleeping sickness for about 5 – 6 weeks. Just nausea but bad enough! At least now being in the 2nd trimester I am feeling better and getting back to myself although the tiredness is still an issue!
So here are some scan pictures of Sixpence, taken at 12 weeks. Baby is due May 20th, which is my birthday!
Have not managed to do any crafting really since falling pregnant, as I tend to get motion sickness watching my needles or crochet hook! So baby knitting is falling onto my mom to do at the moment and I am hoping to return to it in the new year!
